About

Measure Twice is an independent website with free calculators and guides for home improvement projects.

What we do

We build calculators that answer one practical question each: how much paint, concrete, tile, flooring, mulch or drywall to buy. Each page explains the formula, shows a worked example and lists the assumptions, so you can see how the number was reached and adjust it.

Where the numbers come from

Coverage rates, bag yields and waste allowances are based on manufacturer labels and common trade practice in the United States, Canada and Australia. Products differ, so wherever it matters you can change the value in the calculator. We review pages regularly and show the date of the last update on each one.

Limits

Our results are estimates for planning and shopping. They do not replace product instructions, building codes or advice from a qualified professional, especially for structural work.

Advertising

The site is free to use and is supported by advertising. Ads never change the results of a calculator.
